Permanent Resident Visas

To be eligible for the Skilled Migration Visa, you must be highly skilled, hold a post-secondary qualification, have extensive specialized work experience in the nominated occupation, and demonstrate a proficient level of English. Since these visas are points-based, you will also need to score enough points to meet the pass mark in one of the following categories:

1. Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

The Skilled Independent Visa (Permanent) is designed for points-tested skilled workers who wish to live and work permanently in Australia.

  • Obtain a positive skills assessment from the appropriate assessing authority for your nominated occupation.

  • Achieve the minimum points score in the Points Test when invited to apply.

  • Receive an invitation to apply for the visa by lodging an Expression of Interest (EOI) and meeting the points test.

  • Meet health and character requirements.

2. Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

The Skilled Nominated Visa (Permanent) is for points-tested skilled workers who have received a nomination from a State or Territory government and wish to live and work in Australia permanently.

  • It allows you to live, work, and study in Australia permanently.

  • As a permanent resident, you can stay in Australia indefinitely.

The Skilled Work Regional Visa (Provisional) is a temporary visa for skilled workers who have a family member in regional Australia who can sponsor them or are interested in being nominated by a State or Territory government in regional areas.

  • This is a provisional visa, which permits you to stay in the country for up to 5 years.

The Partner (Temporary) Visa – Subclass 820 and Partner (Residence) Visa – Subclass 801 is a two-stage visa process for individuals seeking to enter and stay in Australia based on their relationship with an eligible partner.

The Prospective Marriage Visa is for individuals who wish to enter Australia to marry their prospective spouse and remain in the country permanently.

  • You may be eligible to apply if you intend to marry an Australian permanent resident or citizen.

  • This is a provisional visa that allows you to enter and remain in Australia for up to 9 months to marry your fiancé.

  • Have met in person and are known to each other.

  • Intend to live together as spouses after marriage.

Student Visa (Subclass 500)

The Student Visa (Subclass 500) allows international students to enter Australia to study on a temporary basis.

Training Visa (Subclass 407)

    • Occupational training required for registration.

    • Training to enhance skills (from the relevant occupation lists).

  • Intend to stay temporarily and participate in occupational training activities.

  • Have access to sufficient funds to cover the cost of your stay in Australia.

  • Satisfy certain Special Return and Public Interest criteria.

Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

The Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) allows genuine tourists, business visitors, and family members to visit Australia temporarily for tourism, business, or family purposes.

  • You may apply for this visa from inside or outside Australia.

  • This visa does not permit you to work or study for more than 3 months in Australia.
